Five Reasons Why You Should Read The Harley Quinn Eat, Bang, Kill Tour

Five Reasons Why You Should Read The Harley Quinn Eat, Bang, Kill Tour

Here at Vines N Roses Zine, we are extremely happy to be the first comic site that announced the existence of Harley Quinn, Eat, Bang, Kill Tour back in June https://vinesnroses.blogspot.com/2021/06/harley-quinn-eat-bang-kill-tour.html

In case you missed it, here are five reasons to buy the book and enjoy the zany, fun and HOT HOT HOT adventures of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy

1. Poison Ivy SHINES in the book.

Unfortunately Poison Ivy has not been treated well in the past years. She was murdered, tortured, split in multiple characters, burned alive, split again etc etc. Her character development doesn't seem to stick in the main DC universe books and she is barely used. Fortunately she gets a central spot in "Eat, Bang, Kill". She is written as an actual and well rounded character with emotions, fear, hopes and dreams and not as a "plant Bazooka" or a plant version of Carnage. In just a few issues Tee Franklin manages to give more character to Poison Ivy than decades in main canon comics.

2. The art is F A N T A S T I C

Filled with visual gags and an insane amount of detail while at the same time being colorful, close to the animated series AND having a personal style is not an easy task. BUT Max Sarin, Marissa Louise and Taylor Esposito deliver a wonderful book. The design, the colors and lettering is expressive and fitting to the themes and tone of the script and the characters look better than ever with both subtle and cartoony expressions. It also has a TON of visual gags and references in every page that make multiple readings of each issue a pleasure.

3. The team DELIVERS in diversity.

It's obvious that the team put a lot of effort regarding diversity. It's inclusiveness in action that feels organic. There are multiple characters of different ethnicities, sexual orientation, disabled characters, P.O.C. It makes the book feel alive and gives a positive vibe to the readers. Plus a big theme that runs throughout the series is Poison Ivy's mental state and the feelings she has to process that is told with care and respect and not as a stereotype.
.

4. It's GAY and sexy as fuck.

Ok, seriously, listen: this book is hot, steamy, sexy and gay. When it comes to the Ivy and Harley romance, previous books have mostly stayed away from it, either queerbaiting the readers, breaking up the couple or not showing them in love. Eat, Bang, Kill DELIVERS. Ivy and Harley are in love, they kiss, have sex, enjoy their romance like a normal couple does. And it's not only them. I love sex jokes, puns, innuendoes and I love the meta narrative of the book poking fans at "comic sex scandals", like the one that heroes are not cunning linguists. Well guess again - wink wink nudge nudge. It's liberating to finally see the couple eat each other, bang each other and kill it in bed.

5. VIXEN IS IN IT

I love Vixen, you should love Vixen too. Not only she play a central part to the story but she is FABULOUS and she is also gay! I mean... look at the art above. She looks absolutely stunning and majestic. And wait till you learn about her ... animal skills in bed!

You need another reason? Well, how about not only supporting diversity in words and stories but also IN ACTION?

Don't miss this book or you'll be missing one of the most fun comic books ever. I hope we will get more than six issues cause this series NEEDS to be an ongoing. So please support it and enjoy Eat - Bang - Kill!!!
