Ivy's 'Tis' the Season' Hot Chocolate Mixes

These hot chocolate ideas are simple and so much fun to make and people love them!

You can do these in jars or in those empty Christmas ornaments that you can get at your local craft store. However, I have found that living in a country where at Christmas it is summer and it's not ideal with the plastic lining of the ornament, and well, sugar just seems to stick to the sides. However, it is perfectly fine for a place that is much colder! If you live in a hot place like me, the best things to use are jars, as the cold of the glass helps to keep your ingredients from sticking or even melting.

What you want to do is place a couple of good spoonsful of instant hot chocolate (two sachets if you have those), and the rest you can improvise. Or you feel like it, you can use cocoa powder as well.

For me, I like to add:

  • crushed candy cane,
  • mini marshmallows,
  • colourful cupcake sprinkles,
  • extra teaspoon layer of sugar.

And if you are feeling particularly adventurous add in a pinch of cayenne pepper,  if you like a little bit of spice to your hot chocolate.
